Mourning Beloveth Doom Metal / Co. Kildare

Editor Notes:

Doom/Death stalwarts of the Irish metal scene and arguably ‘THE BEST’ metal band to come out of Ireland. Never ones to rush themselves, they are methodical in their art and always put the required amount of thought, patience and experience into each and every release.

Pauric joined at the end of 2009, we having known him in his previous incarnation with Decayor and musically and personally he fit right in. it was coming to the time of a new album but we decided instead to play a few gigs with Pauric to get him familiar with us, our older songs and the general vibe in the band. It was strange for a time playing the old songs with a new guitarist, a

guitarist with his own style and it took some time and adjusting but we felt a few gigs would smooth things out , and they did.

So 2010 and a headlining spot at Doom Shall Rise was a good way for Pauric to start his European jaunt with us. It was great to be back in the hallowed church of doom, our first time there since 2004. That followed in May with a gig at SWR festival, a good gig and a great weekend but the volcanic ash cloud kept us in Portugal for a week, a week of drinking and card playing and the learning of the ultimate game of spite, shithead……yes 7 days, 3 songs indeed….our longest set ever. Hells Pleasure was next for a weekend of dirt and debauchery and it is great to see a festival like this dedicated to all things underground receiving such support from the metal community. London calling next with Esoteric, great gig and a great crowd, especially strong Irish contingent meant we felt right at home with these heavy weights of the doom scene We again tied up with our man Aido in his new home of Madrid for Madrid is the Dark Fest in October and although we played well we felt we left something behind, perhaps it was a shoe at a bus stop from the previous nights partying but we were pleased with the response from a packed and sweaty venue. Our final gig of the year was a triumphant return to Dublin Doom Days and an intense performance to a packed house and the first airing of The Weeping Song….it went down as we hoped, like the boat in the video for the original….
