Shadows Calling Alt Rock / Co. Cork

SHADOW CALLING is an original 5 piece alternative rock band hailing from Cork. Their music is a flavour of grunge, metal and hard rock all ready to collide. The brain child of Mitchelstown man Darren O’Keeffe, founder of the band and along with songwriting also plays rhythm guitar.

During the Covid lockdowns Darren began writing his own original songs for the first time. And in 2020 Darren began the search for other musicians to join him in his new venture. He didn’t have to look too far from home for a great vocalist in his sister Jen Vaughn who has 20+ years experience in the music industry fronting various other bands such as INHALE THE FALL. Scott McGowan who hails from Cork was found after Darren heard his guitar playing on a musicians website and reached out to him. Scott is SHADOWS CALLING’s lead guitarist. He has also played in various bands throughout the years including REVEREND GREEN GOES TO JAIL.

Drummer Barry ‘Tron’ English the gifted drummer also from Cork is an old friend of Scott’s, who nabbed him for SHADOWS CALLING. Barry has also been in various bands throughout the years such as BODY DRINKERS, CORR MHÓNA, I’LL EAT YOUR FACE, [r]EVOLUTION OF A SUN, DOG ON STILTS, SLUDGEHOOK and plenty more. Mike Jordan, the bands bass player is originally a Galway man now an honoury Cork man. He has also played with various bands throughout the years and is also currently with THE MAGNAPINNA. He joined Darren and crew after talking to Jen.

2023 sees the band fully emerge onto the Irish music scene with the release of their debut “Spirit Shifter” EP in early March along with a music video for the lead track ‘Eraser’ created with the help of Epic Productions and shot in St. Georges Arts and Heritage Centre in Mitchelstown.
