Official Biography…

Aponym is a 4-piece progressive post-metal band from Ireland who combine the atmospherics of post metal, the riffs of prog and the soundscapes of drone. The band consists of members based in Cork, Limerick and Waterford and make atmospheric instrumental prog metal citing bands such as Mastodon, Meshuggah, Gojira, Devin Townsend, Shardborne, Russian Circles, ASIWYFA and many others as influences. The band initially started as just Longan and O’Mahony producing everything but has since recruited Chris O’Sullivan and Cillian Plummer on drums and guitars respectively, further stretching the sound and influences. The band is currently in the recording process of their debut EP, looking to be put out in 2017.
