COILGUNS: Irish Tour with BAILER Kicks Off in Belfast TONIGHT!!!… Posted: 15/05/2018 by John O'Brien
Swiss hardcore outfit COILGUNS return to Irish shores for a string of dates kicking off TONIGHT in Belfast. The band are on the road in support of their latest album “Millannials”. This is Coilguns third visit to Ireland and is set to be an exciting and explosive return.
“We’ve toured Ireland twice a few years back and we are stoked to be returning to the place where we’ve made so many friends. We’re even happier that the tour is promoted by Ruiair and Josh from FEAST. We toured together with Josh’s band Ilenkus back then and when FEAST just started doing local shows. It’s great to see them now taking over national tours. As this wasn’t not enough, support for these shows will come from Bailer which features David Cleere on bass. I can’t even recall since when David and us are friends but sharing the tour with him and the lads will surely be a blast. Ireland, get your helmets on.”

COILGUNS are one of the proud flag holders of the 2.0 DIY scene since 2011 when they accidentally formed with the purpose of playing fast and simple music. After releasing a first EP in the shape of homemade screen printed and packed in PCV food bags CD version – they sign to Pelagic Records and quickly the band becomes the main activity of its three members. In 2012 guitarist Jona Nido founds his own label – Hummus Records -counting until now more than fifty releases including all COILGUNS music.
COILGUNS first album “Commuters” was released in February 2013 as a co-op between Hummus Records and Pelagic Records. All their music has always been recorded live and uncut, generally written and recorded on the spot wherever they were at the moment, sometimes on the other side of the world when touring with their former band, German prog-metallers THE OCEAN.
In 2015 and over a hundred sixty shows throughout Europe and Australia, the band decides to take a break and write the follow up to “Commuters”. In January 2016, the boys rent out a secluded house on the countryside of Germany and build up a full 16 tracks analog studio. For a month, the three are on their own, writing, recording and mixing their second full length themselves without any computer involved.
Despite all of them being busy with other projects (Louis Jucker solo, Closet Disco Queen,Kunz…) Coilguns still performed twice in 2016, one show taking place in Switzerland’s biggest open air festival; Paléo Festival. Coilguns now features a fourth multi-instrumentalist member adding dimension to the band’s live setup with extra synths, percussions and backing vocals.

Joining them will be Cork’s current hardcore heroes BAILER who seem to be on an unstoppable run in support of their current self-titled “BAILER” EP.
Heavy Irish metallic hardcore quartet BAILER take no prisoners with their brand new self-titled EP, which was released on 9th February 2018. Following on from 2017’s “PTSD” and 2016’s “Shaped By The Landscape”, “BAILER” is an ambitious collection of tracks that showcase a band who have truly discovered their sound.
Returning to work with Murdock’s Aidan Cunningham, BAILER is relentless from the get-go as the merciless ‘Lying For A Living’ brings the listener up to speed in a riotous fashion, while the likes of ‘Tuesday Blues’ and ‘Death Is A Reminder’ take a filthier route, hinting influences of Cancer Bats. Since forming in 2015 BAILER have pricked the ears of many other musicians, with some familiar faces lending their vocals to this latest EP. Adam Carroll of ZOAX, Xander Coughlan of WORN OUT, and Kevin ‘Lefty’ Letford of RED ENEMY all feature, adding their own slice of character to the record.
With a small discography the four-piece have impressively garnered attention from Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Metal Injection and That’s Not Metal, an achievement that is no mean feat for a band so early into their career. BAILER have spent their short time as a band building up a strong reputation in their home ground, having played shows alongside NORMA JEAN, SICK OF IT ALL, EMPLOYED TO SERVE, HECK and more. 2018 will be the year that the quartet mark their territory further afield, with a tour of Russia already under their belt ahead of this run with COILGUNS.
This is sure to be a devastating tour! Be sure to check it out!
