Transgress Thrash Metal / Co. Galway
Based in Galway, Thrash/Heavy Metal band TRANSGRESS were formed in 2005. Early Achievements include coming second in the National Final of the Blast: Beat Battle of the Bands competition 2006. Out of a total of about 750 bands and at just 13 years old, they were by far the youngest band in the competition! Not long after that TRANSGRESS were chosen to play at the Download Festival in the RDS arena in Dublin by organisers, Aiken Promotions, on the same bill as the likes of Guns ānā Roses, Metallica, A7X, Bullet for my Valentine, Therapy?, Alice in Chains, Stone Sour and Acidtone to name a few.
Building on the success of that appearance and some jam filled shows around Ireland, TRANSGRESS made the trip to record in Grouse Lodge Studios, Westmeath and also recorded in Wild Island studios, Kylebrack, resulting in the release of their self financed brilliant thrash infused debut album “Along the Crystal Shores.” The band made appearances on RTE2FM, Dublin region radio stations, and were on RTE2 a number of times. Unfortunately, despite massive potential, the band split up. However for the short period of time together they burned brightly and for those that followed TRANSGRESS live, they’ll be left with some terrific memories of a young band playing beyond their years and bringing their brand of Heavy Metal/Thrash metal to ecstatic crowds.
Members would go on to play in other bands… TWISTED WRATH and UNYIELDING LOVE.
Thanks a million to Richie at The Metal Cell Podcast for the write-up on this. (I pinched it from his podcast).
