Wild Rocket Live Cellar Bar Galway. Posted: 17/09/2015 by Trevor McCormack

Wild rocket

Dublin space rock band Wild Rocket will play in the Cellar Bar, Eglinton street Galway  on Friday the 18th of September.

Wild Rocket are Bres (drums), Jon K (synth), Moose (bass & vocals), and Niallo (guitar) and what they play can be called an unique mix of space rock, psychedelic fuzz rock, synth pop, post-punk and heavy metal. Or “space metal and acid punk” as they call it themselves.

Since their formation in 2011 the band has released two online demo singles (“Self Medication” and “Transalluvial Planes” – both in 2013). Their debut full length album “Geomagnetic Hallucinations” was self released in July 2014 as digital and vinyl, and just recently – as cassette through Sarlacc Productions. It was very well received by both critics and fans. In words of reviewer Paul Robertson (The Sleeping Shaman webzine) the typical Wild Rocket song “powers and lurches along speedily in muscular fashion, letting the bruising guitar, bass and drum combo do all of the heavy lifting whilst those wonderful synths add pointillist looping melodies and cascades of echoing chirrups, making for a thoroughly thrilling wild ride.” Wild Rocket has a strong reputation as a live act, they like to improvise their songs, some of which sound different each time the band plays live. They have been compared to such bands as Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles, Queens of The Stone Age.

Support on the night will be provided by Galway bands Severian (blackened punk metal) and Ten Ton Slug (sludge groove metal).

The gig is organized by HexenHaus Promotions.

Doors open at 8:30pm. Admission: 4 euro.
