Primed Alt Rock / Co. Dublin
PRIMED are a Progressive Rock/Metal band who started off in 2000 as a Punk group. They were active on the gigging circuit during the early to mid 2000’s to 2006 and supported many notable acts such as STONE SOUR, KILLING JOKE, LIFE OF AGONY, PRIMAL FEAR and GREEN CARNATION. They toured all over Ireland and also made trips to the UK and Norway.
PRIMED made their first recordings in June 2001 at Dublin’s Trackmix Studios. The ten track “Insight 2 Riot” (affectionately known to the band as the “We’ll fix it in the mix” album) was never officially released and only three official copies are known to exist. The bands first official release was the three track “Grief” demo, also recorded at Trackmix in June 2003, which marked a change in musical direction to a more heavy rock/metal direction for the band. For their next release PRIMED recorded two more tracks at Trackmix Studios and another two at Dublin’s Apollo Studios, which surfaced as the excellent “Icarus Falls” EP in 2004.
After this the band set about gigging and preparing for their first full-length album. New tracks were written and recorded alongside re-recorded versions of the 2001 demo tracks and two from the previous EP. The album was recorded over ten days in January 2006 at Sanden Media Studios, Kristainsand Norway and was produced by the band with Kjetil Nordhus and Sten Roger Sordal from GREEN CARNATION. The band organised for GREEN CARNATION to come to Ireland for a couple of shows later that year which they were the main support and launched their “Octavia Dies” at the Dublin gig on the 26th August 2006 in the Temple Bar Music Centre.
However! Shortly after the release of the album PRIMED quietly parted ways with no announcement being made as to whether the band had split for good or gone on hiatus. Members have since resurfaced in other bands such as LLUTHER, A NAME TO KILL FOR, and PURE GRIEF FOR STARS.
After seven years apart, PRIMED are set to reunite for a final show on the 11th October 2014 at the Academy 2 in Dublin. The band never got to have a farewell show, but now after seven years apart the band will join long time friends and tour mates EYESCLOSED, who are also reuniting for the show, to bring friends, fans and family together for one final party and a full live show.
