Discord Death Metal / Co. Limerick
DISCORD was originally formed by Martin, John and Alan in the mid-late 1990’s when they were all only about 15 years of age. They played their first gig 1997 (or so Martin thinks!!!) with Rory on guitar and Tony on drums and played various covers from the likes of SLAYER, SEPULTURA and METALLICA.
By the early 2000’s Alan and Tony had left the band, Rory had switched over to drums and Adrian had joined the band on bass duties. It was this line-up that was active between 2001 and 2004 and that recorded and released the 4-track ‘101 Damnations’ demo towards the end of 2003. A fifth track was also recorded and intended to be on the demo, but the band weren’t happy with it so ended up leaving it off.
DISCORD used to gig regularly with THE SWARM in The High Stool in Limerick. They played all their own tracks plus a few covers, including ‘Poison’ by ALICE COOPER, ‘Neccessary Evil’ by NAPALM DEATH and most notably ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’ by BON JOVI. During their time together DISCORD won the LIT ‘Battle of The Bands’ two years in a row. Yet they only ever played outside of Limerick twice. The first time in ‘The Wolfhound’ in Cork with THE SWARM and the second time in ‘Club K-17’ in Berlin with a German thrash band called DESILENCE.
Not much appears to have happened with DISCORD from then on. But a few years later in 2008, three members(Martin, John and Alan) would regroup with a new line-up called THREE HOUR CEASEFIRE who are very active on the Irish gigging scene and are currently rehearsing/writing for their first proper release.
