Crucifracture Death Metal / Co. Kilkenny

Biography by Red…

The band began in 2004 with David Slattery and Shane ‘Red’ Corcoran before Robert Kelly and Neville Lawless joined at the same time to complete the lineup. The group won a local battle of the bands after only a handful of shows which led to the recording of the “Grotesque Jigsaw” EP as the prize for first place.

At the time the band were still teenagers with Rob and Neville still in secondary school. Mainly influenced by death metal bands such as CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE, CARCASS, etc. As the band progressed more shows were offered and the band started to play outside of Kilkenny which in turn allowed the group to support many other Irish acts in the then thriving Kilkenny Metal scene.

The band temporarily became a three piece when Rob decided to leave to concentrate on further education. At this point Red took up vocal duties until Rob returned to the group where they both shared vocals making the band that bit heavier. The EP never got a proper release due to the band not having the finances at the time to do so. Red left the group due to musical differences leaving the band again as a three piece. While the Kilkenny scene was on a slow decline the band managed to support DISGORGE (Mex) in the Zoo before it eventually closed its doors for good. The band broke up not long after this.
