Wound Upon Wound Atmospheric Black Metal / Co. Dublin
Formed in 2008, WOUND UPON WOUND embellishes elements of Black Metal, Death Metal, Doom and experimentation to create a focused sound that is both intense and sombre.
In 2010, WUW completed local support slots with Irish bands as well as their first International show with Witchsorrow (UK). After completing this first installment of live shows the band recorded the EP entitled “Grievance”. This Ep was released in mid 2010, on the Irish label Underground Movement and was very well received gaining outstanding reviews from international publications such as Zero Tolerance Magazine and Terrorizer magazine as well as online blogs. With the release of this Ep the band cemented support slots with bigger international bands such as DESECRATION, TRENCH HELL (Australia), VOMITOR (Australia) and a mini tour with GORATH (Belgium).
2011 solidified the band’s reputation of an intense live show and WUW appeared as main support to PROCESSION (Chile) in Dublin as well as supporting 1349 on their only Irish Date in 2011.
WOUND UPON WOUND entered the studio once more in Oct 2011 to record their debut album which was released in 2012.

In late 2014 it was decided a fresh start was needed, so WUW was retired and the latest line-up re-emerged soon after under the name MORTICHNIA, whose debut album “Heir To Scoria And Ash” was released on the 22nd April via the Apocalyptic Witchcraft label.
