Independent Irish Psych Rockers MOTHER MOOCH’s Hive Mind official video has won Best Music Video at Underground Cinema’s 2016 Award Ceremony in Dublin last Saturday in a category that also included i am niamh’s “Creep” and videos from James, Suan and The Rattleshakes. Director Shannon Moncrief was on hand to collect the award.
The official video for “Hive Mind” – taken from their 2015 self produced debut album “Nocturnes” – was released in June of this year. Accentuated by the stunning autumnal landscape of Donadea Forest, the video explores concepts of conformity and indoctrination; themes consistent with the song’s dark tone and lyrics. Filmed on location in Donadea Forest Park, Kildare, Ireland by director Shannon Moncrief and cinematographer Philip Blake and produced by Mother Mooch and Shannon Moncrief.
MOTHER MOOCH’s fully self produced debut album “Nocturnes” was released on Friday 13th November 2015 to critical acclaim both at home and throughout the international heavy underground. A vinyl edition of “Nocturnes” was released through German label Krauted Mind Records in October 2016.
Shannon Moncrief is a writer, director and producer based between the US and Ireland. Her recent music video, “Make Out” by Honeychild was nominated for Best Music Video by Flagpole Music Magazine, The Sprockets Music Video Festival and the Dublin Underground Film Festival. Her short film “The Legend” has screened internationally and continues on the festival circuit.
Philip Blake is a young Irish cinematographer living in Dublin. He is a graduate of the National Film School of Ireland at IADT. He has worked on an array of projects including film, commercial, TV and documentary as well as shooting a number of Irish short films, including Kate Dolan’s “Little Doll” which recently had its world premier at the Berlinale Film Festival.
