The Distortion Project Presents Heat two of the inaugural Metal 2 The Masses Competition In Northern Ireland. Offering the unique opportunity to send one band from Northern Ireland the chance to play the New Blood Stage at the 2015 Bloodstock Festival. The winner will also be in with a chance to play Wacken (Germany) and Metaldays (Slovenia) in 2016. Full details of the line-up below.

‘Heat 1’ Results…

Sorrowfall_bandThe Bloodstock M2TM heats are well under way down here in the Republic side of the border. But last Saturday the 21st Feb 2015 saw the first of the Northern Ireland heats taking place in the Limelight 2 in Belfast. Four bands were vying for a slot in the upcoming semi-final stages. Alt metallers PARADIGM,  Derry based symphonic metal band SELENE (playing their first ever live show), extreme metallers ALTUS and the recently reformed SORROWFALL.

Despite being out of the scene for a number of years SORROWFALL were still easily the most experienced live band on the night. So it’s hardly any surprise the see that they won out in the end, getting both the judges and crowd votes. Which meant the runner-up spot then went to ALTUS.

Full live review of the nights events are over on… (link here!!!)

Congratulations to both bands for getting through to the semi-final stages! The second heat of Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses Northern Ireland will take place at Limelight 2 again on Saturday 7th March 2015, with CAVEHILL, DONUM DEI, RULE OF SIX and ZOMBIFIED all setting their sites on a semi-final slot.

We are a Belfast based heavy metal band. Formed in November 2011 and with the band quickly gaining recognition over the last year (2014). The band consists of Thomas Marshall (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Alastair Marshall (drums), Stuart Mcloughlin (lead guitar) and Dean kane (bass). Our goal in our career is to play to as many people in the audience that the venue can hold. We feed of the audience energy to enrage and deliver a great performance. Our main influences would be Metallica, Machine Head, Motorhead, Pantera and Black Label Society. New metal influences such as Trivium, As I Lay Dying and While She Sleeps.!home/c2414

rule_of_six_liveRULE OF SIX
Rule of six formed initially out of a selection of songs Dave Briggs of Waylander had worked on as a side project. With a love for layering & harmonising, it seemed there would be more guitarists required than the usual rhythm/lead combination. With complexity through simplicity a unique live sound was now created, opening a door for some great experimentation that would usually be lost through performing with backing tracks. Enlisting the help of Tom & Steve (ex-Fatality members) Jack & Ash (Downcoil) & Den (ex-Waylander) Rule of Six were ready to take to the stage. Melodies, harmonies, guitar solos & singalong choruses and four guitarists… Rule of Six don’t disappoint!

Four guys laying down some heavy groovy shit. Foot tappin’, hip swingin’, head bangin’, heavy groovy shit. After some thoroughly enjoyable gigs in 2014 in and around the excellent, passionate and ever growing Belfast music scene the band are back in the studio recording the new album GROOVE`TALLICA (who knows, it might become a real word and make it into the Oxford English Dictionary – yeah, right. Just loving it.
